Summary

A numerical method for calculating a process unit that condenses a multicomponent mixture was developed and implemented. With this numerical approach it is possible to rate an existing condenser or to size a new one. A discrete model was developed for the type of equipment under study and the condensing curve was calculated through a general purpose condensing function. The differential heat transfer area for every section was calculated by a double iterative algorithm. The accumulated summation of differential areas yields the total required condensing area.
