Author(s) : WANG R.

Type of article: Article

Summary

A SMALL CRYOSTAT HAS BEEN DEVELOPED, WHICH IS SPECIALLY USEFUL FOR THE STUDY OF TRANSIENT AND STEADY-STATE HEAT TRANSFER OF SMALL SAMPLES IN SUBCOOLED SUPERFLUID HELIUM. THE SUBCOOLED SUPERFLUID HELIUM BATH TEMPERATURE CAN BE CONTROLLED WITH A PRECISION OF ABOUT 0.5 MILLIK TO VALUES LOWER THAN 1.6 K AND THE PRESSURE CAN BE ADJUSTED WITH A PRECISION OF ABOUT 100 PASCALS FROM SATURATED PRESSURE UP TO MORE THAN 100 KILOPASCALS. THE THERMAL AND STRUCTURAL DESIGN IS DESCRIBED.
