Summary

The authors report on a new type of snow making system using ice grains, an alternative to a conventional spraying system. This new artificial system consists of two subsystems, an ice making system and a pneumatic conveyance system. If we transport a large quantity of ice with a pneumatic conveyance system, we must consider several technical problems. The paper presents experimental and analytical results on the floating velocity of the flake ice, and on pressure loss in the pneumatic conveying line (with flake ice).
