Summary
Will meeting eco-efficiency targets be possible with regard to the food supply chain? Much can be done, and there are many "win-win" solutions that would be good for the environment and profitable for individual companies. Examples are given of the changes/measures required in order to make a more sustainable food chain possible. A drastic restructuring of the agriculture and food products industries has occurred during the last 25 years, suggesting that extensive changes could again take place within a relatively short period of time.
