Summary

TO SATISFY THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM OF A BUILDING, IT IS NECESSARY TO COOL DOWN FROM 285 TO 280 K (12 TO 7 DEG C) A GLYCOL WATER MIXTURE FLOWING THROUGH A CLOSED CIRCUIT. THIS IS ACHIEVED BY A REFRIGERATING UNIT WHICH OPERATES BY ABSORPTION OF WATER-VAPOUR IN A LITHIUM BROMIDE CONCENTRATED SOLUTION. TWO PROJECTS USING EQUIPMENT OF A CAPACITY OF 30 AND 300 KILOWATTS RESPECTIVELY ARE PRESEE FOR EACH OF THEM, THE SIZE OF COMPONENTS IS DETERMINED, TOGETHER WITH THE INVESTMENT AND OPERATION COSTS. IT IS SHOWN THAT THE OPTIMAL VALUE OF COP RANGES FROM 1.35 TO 1.45, WHEREAS THE MAXIMUM VALUE OF COP WOULD BE 1.50.
