Summary

This report explains the widely varying climate conditions in the United Kingdom along with available energy sources and their economic aspects. Fields in which these various types of energy are used are reviewed; policies implemented for energy management are outlined. The main types of absorption equipment are then described. Current research is discussed. Protection of the environment and the need to achieve sustainable development are taken into account.
