Absorption steam tricycle driven by concentrated solar heat energy.

Summary

Nihon University's solar dish is used for the energy source of a small absorption steam car. This steam engine uses the saturation pressure difference of water and aqueous solutions of lithium chloride and lithium bromide kept at about 150 to 160 deg C. For steam expander, newly developed four-cylinder barrel type swash plate rotary expander was successfully used with higher efficiency. This experiment shows that alternative energy such as solar heat energy can be used for mechanical power production with this absorption energy conversion system which is also hoped to be used in power production from natural salt energy resources, e.g. at the Dead Sea.
