Activated carbon-ammonia adsorption system for bus air conditioning.

Summary

A new concept combining thermal wave and use of direct contact heat transfer to raise the COP of the adsorption system has been presented. The enhanced COP and the reduced cycle time makes the adsorption refrigeration system, powered by the exhaust gases of the bus engine, viable for use in air-conditioning of buses. A complete thermodynamic analysis of an adsorption refrigeration system based on the above concept and the results of computer simulation of the system for activated carbon-ammonia pair are presented.
