Number: pap. ID: 883

Author(s) : UNSWORTH R., VERMEER H., GERRITSEN J.

Summary

Utilizing the properties of natural refrigerant ammonia in designing and installing a two stage heat pump for pasteurizing heating requirements in a dairy has significantly affected positively the running costs and carbon footprint of the process. This paper discusses the main characteristics of the design issues related to the implementation of combining refrigeration and heating requirements. It also considers choice of compressors and defines the limitation of these choices in a practical application.
