Summary
Results of research carried out in China are discussed. The optimal controlled atmospheres for apple storage were 2-3% O2 and 9-12% CO2 in Liaoning province, and 2-3% O2 and 6-9% O2 in Shandong province. Mandarins subjected to postharvest heat and chemical treatments, and wrapped in film, could be stored at 5-8 deg C until March without loss of juice. Qinmei kiwifruits stored well for 6-8 months in 2-6% O2 and 4% CO2 at 0 deg C. Mangoes subjected to heat treatment (52 deg C) stored well at room temperature (30 deg C) for 15-17 days.
