ADVANTAGES OF ENTHALPY-TEMPERATURE DIAGRAMS FOR NON-AZEOTROPIC REFRIGERANT MIXTURES.

Summary

TRADITIONALLY H,LOG(P) DIAGRAMS ARE USED IN THE REFRIGERATION AND HEAT PUMP INDUSTRY FOR PURE REFRIGERANTS. THE PROPOSED ENTHALPY, TEMPERATURE (H,T) DIAGRAM HAS SOME INTERESTING FEATURES, COMBINING SOME OF THE ADVANTAGES OF THE H,LOG(P) AND THE S,T DIAGRAMS. PLOTTING THE TEMPERATURE VERSUS ENTHALPY IN A DIAGRAM GIVES SIMILAR ADVANTAGES AS THE CONVENTIONAL H,LOG(P) DIAGRAM. HOWEVER, WITH THE H,T DIAGRAM, IT IS POSSIBLE TO SHOW TEMPERATURE PROFILES ALONG THE INTERNAL HEAT EXCHANGERS. THE ADVANTAGES ARE ESPECIALLY APPARENT WHEN ANALYZING POTENTIAL BENEFITS AND PROBLEMS WITH CYCLES UTILIZING NON AZEOTROPIC REFRIGERANT MIXTURES WITH GLIDING TEMPERATURES IN THE EVAPORATOR AND THE CONDENSER.
