This article is a lecture given during a meeting organized in co-operation with Carrier, held on December 11, 2003, in Waalwijk, The Netherlands. It describes the development of the indirect static dewpoint cooling system, which is based on the evaporation of water and which is suitable for temperate climates. The cooling depends on the humidity of the outside air.
