Summary

The numerous and important advantages of ammonia as a working refrigerant fluid are reviewed, together with its few disadvantages. An industrial plant is described, with circulation by pumps, but also the cooling of workshops by direct expansion. Air-conditioning units operating with water can also use ammonia, since there exists automated equipment for the control and monitoring of ammonia. J.L.
