Ammonia heat exchangers for commercial refrigeration plants.
Author(s) : HOMMANN G., THIESSEN H., WOBST E.
Summary
The paper reports on some testing plants that are being operated with ammonia in the commercial capacity range. First results show a need for investigations on heat exchangers. Most existing air coolers with ammonia are designed for flooded-type or pump-feed evaporators. However, the dry-expansion type should be used in ammonia plants, too, in order to reduce refrigerant charge. Experimental data and instructions are presented for designing heat exchangers for commercial refrigeration plants.
