Performance evaluation and energy consumption, according to the UNI-EN 441, of commercial display cases with coolant, for medium and low temperatures.

Valutazioni prestazionali e consumi energetici secondo la norma UNI-EN 441 di Banchi Espositori Commerciali funzionanti, con fluido secondario.

Author(s) : SCHIESARO P.

Summary

In spite of their advantages, indirect cooling systems require more power than direct cooling systems. The author describes the tests he carried out on two display cases: one was a wall display case using propylene glycol-water as a coolant and operating in a temperature range of 0-8 deg C; the other was a frozen-food display case using tyfoxite water as a coolant and operating in a temperature range of -22/-24 deg C. For each series of tests, the author describes the measurement apparatus and procedures, coolant characteristics and results, with reference to the UNI-EN 441 standard. He also deals with the problems caused by the use of tyfoxite. Finally, he synthesizes the conditions of use of indirect cooling systems in commercial refrigeration.
