Summary
The application of heat pumps is very common in the food industry, where waste heat is available from the refrigerating plant and at the same time large quantities of warm industrial water are necessary. The paper reports an ammonia heat pump with a capacity of 1.8 MW, which is installed in a collective meat factory. On the basis of two-year operational experiences, the heat pump is evaluated energetically, economically and ecologically.
