Ammonia high pressure heat pumps in food refrigeration applications.

Summary
The use of refrigeration condenser heat is limited usually by the available temperature. A refrigeration compressor manufacturer now produces compressors for ammonia capable of operating at 75 deg C condensing temperature. Examples are given of ammonia heat pump systems installed to take discharge vapour from existing refrigeration plants, condense it at a higher pressure to produce water at 60 deg C for heating purposes, and return the resulting condensate through expansion valves to the refrigeration plant condensers.
