An adsorption cooling system with heat-regeneration: experimental and numerical study.

Author(s) : PONS M., SZARZYNSKI S.

Summary

The paper describes a laboratory prototype for adsorptive cooling operated with heat-regenerative cycles. The adsorption pair is zeolite-Na+water. A new adsorbent composite is tested. The experimental cooling power is rather large but the COP is much lower than expected (heat losses are very significant in this adsorber, containing 2 kg of zeolite only). A size effect will improve performance a lot. In addition, another adsorber design is also recommended.
