Author(s) : WATTELET J. P., et al.

Summary

AN INSTRUMENTED, HORIZONTAL, SMOOTH, 1.83 METER-LONG, 10.21 MILLIMETER-INSIDE DIAMETER EVAPORATION TEST SECTION EQUIPPED WITH SURFACE-WRAPPED HEATERS IS THE MAIN FEATURE OF THE DESIGN BASELINE TESTING USING R12 HAS BEEN CONDUCTED AS WELL AS PRELIMINARY MEASUREMENTS WITH R134A. MASS FLUXES WERE TESTED OVER THE RANGE OF 135 TO 540 KG/M2 S, AND HEAT FLUXES WERE VARIED FROM 5.1 TO 20.4 KILOWATTS/M2. EVAPORATION TEMPERATURES WERE BETWEEN 4.4 AND 11.1 DEG C WITH INLET QUALITIES OF 20 PERCENT. THE RESULTS ARE GIVEN.
