Summary
An experimental study of condensation of the pure refrigerants HCFC-22, HFC-134a and HCFC-123 inside a horizontal smooth tube is presented. The results of tests of frictional pressure drop have different trends from several previous correlation equations, depending on the mass velocity and the kind of refrigerant. A new empirical correlation equation, including the Lockhart-Martinelli parameters and a dimensionless mass velocity parameter is proposed. Based on the turbulent liquid film theory and the Nusselt theory, an empirical correlation equation for the local heat transfer coefficient is proposed.
