AN EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION ON FORCED CONVECTION BOILING OF REFRIGERANT MIXTURES.

Author(s) : MURATA K., HASHIZUME K.

Summary

FORCED CONVECTION BOILING OF REFRIGERANTS INSIDE HORIZONTAL TUBES WAS INVESTIGATED EXPERIMENTALLY. HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENT AND PRESSURE DROP OF A PURE REFRIGERANT R123 AND A MIXTURE R123/R134A WERE MEASURED IN A SMOOTH TUBE AND A SPIRALLY GROOVED TUBE. THE HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENT FOR THE MIXTURE WAS FOUND TO BE LOWER THAN THAT FOR THE EQUIVALENT PURE REFRIGERANT WITH THE SAME PHYSICAL PROPERTIES. BASED ON THE EXPERIMENT, CORRELATIONS WERE PROPOSED FOR HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENTS OF SMOOTH AND GROOVED TUBES.
