Summary

Thermosyphon with a separate heating chamber was taken as a model device which has been studied for a small capacity absorption refrigerator with water-lithium bromide solution. Quantitative measurements of operating characteristics were made as functions of pipe diameter, pumping height and heating power. It was found that vapour production rate is mainly affected by the heating power and liquid flow rate is limited by pumping height. It was also observed that, as the pipe diameter increases, dependency of liquid flow rate on the pumping height becomes stronger. Present experimental data are expected to provide criterion for determination of design parameters of a thermosiphon.
