An experimental study on the behavior of CO2 heat pump cycle.

Author(s) : SAIKAWA M., HASHIMOTO K.

Summary

In the case that CO2 is used as a working fluid of heat pump for room cooling, heating or hot tap water supply, its cycle become trans-critical. Its high side pressure is super critical. So variations of CO2 properties (density, etc.) at the outlet of gas cooler when the cycle condition varies are larger than those of conventional working fluids and there is the possibility that the CO2 cycle control become difficult. The paper describes the experimental results of the cycle behavior and control (performed by an experimental loop with automatic expansion valve). From these results, CO2 heat pump cycle can be controlled by an automatic expansion valve and an inverter motor driven compressor.
