An improvement to mechanical smoke system.

Author(s) : YAN Z. J., BAI X. L.

Summary

In a high-rise building, mechanical smoke venting in hallway causes a drop of the pressure. As a result, smoke can spread from the compartment of origin into the hallway. In addition, the vestibule pressurization causes the pressure difference across the vestibule door rising and the door being hard to open. To solve these promblems, this paper advances a way to supply air to the hallway on andition that the smoke exhausting rate still is code-required standard of 60m3m~2h-1,ruled in Fire Protection Code in effect and the appropriate calculation process is put forward as well. By the comparision to the data gained through field tests,it is showed that this method really is a practicable improvement to the mechanical smoke system.
