Summary

Four picking dates were compared for four varieties: Gala, Golden Delicious, Starkrimson and Braeburn. The values measured for the various criteria (starch, ground colour, Streif index) make it possible to determine the optimum picking date and to select the fruits for immediate marketing or for storage, according to the expected quality. Several tests are necessary to confirm the state of ripeness.
