Summary

Heat pump technology in Japan has developed as the core technology of the national "Moonlight Program/Energy Conservation Project" as illustrated by the "Super Heat Pump Energy Accumulation Project" (1984-1992). Recently, for the purpose of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, CO2 working fluids have become the focus, and several combinations based on CO2 working fluids have been developed and introduced.
