Apparent thermal diffusivity and conductivity measurements of an heterogeneous medium in the presence of exchange phenomena: case of a chemical heat pump.

Mesure de la diffusivité et de la conductivité thermique apparentes d'un milieu hétérogène en présence de phénomènes d'échanges : cas d'une pompe à chaleur chimique.

Summary

A simple and reasonably accurate technique for simultaneously measuring the effective thermal diffusivity and conductivity is presented. The sample of the mixture is surrounded with a solid whose thermophysical properties are known. An electrical heater is placed symmetrically in the sample. By recording the temperature at the boundary between the sample and the solid and the temperature inside the solid as a function of time from the start of the instantly applied heat flux, it is possible to get information on the thermophysical properties of the material surrounding the heat source. Experimental results of the effective thermal conductivity and diffusivity of different mixtures are presented.
