Summary

The application of microchannel condensers in ammonia installations makes it possible to go down to 18 g ammonia per kW refrigeration and thus makes the application of ammonia in the built environment more attractive. Ammonia in combination with CO2 contributes to economic and energy-efficient solutions for supermarket applications. The Swedish, Danish and Italian experiences with indirect, cascade and transcritical supermarket refrigeration systems with CO2 are also discussed.
