Summary
COMPACT HEAT AND MASS EXCHANGERS CAN BE RECOMMENDED FOR APPLICATION IN ABSORPTION CYCLES FOR HEATING PURPOSES. PROTOTYPES OF 10 KILOW ABSORPTION HEAT PUMPS HAVE BEEN BUILT. ABSORPTION SYSTEMS GENERALLY ARE KNOWN AS BEING RATHER BULKY, ESPECIALLY IN CASE OF LOW PRESSURE SYSTEMS SUCH AS METHANOL-LITHIUM BROMIDE-ZINC BROMIDE. BUT VERY COMPACT SYSTEMS CAN BECOME COMPETITIVE WITH OTHER HEATING SYSTEMS. APPLICATION OF THIS CONCEPT MAKES IT POSSIBLE TO IMPROVE THE ABSORPTION CYCLE PROCESSES WHICH LEADS TO ADVANCED CYCLES.
