Summary

ACTIVITIES OF LYSOSOMAL ENZYMES IN PRESS JUICE OF FOUR IRRADIATED TROPICAL FISH VARIETIES WERE COMPARED WITH THOSE FOR THE RESPECTIVE FRESH FISH. THE LEVELS OF N-ACETYL-B-GLUCOSAMINIDASE AND ACID PHOSPHATASE INCREASE CONSIDERABLY FOLLOWING IRRADIATION AND STORAGE. THE INCREASED RELEASE OF LYSOSOMAL ENZYMES COULD THEREFORE SERVE AS AN INDICATOR IN DIFFERENTIATING IRRADIATED FISH FROM FRESH FISH.
