Summary

THE RESPONSE-COEFFICIENT METHOD CAN BE USED TO FIND LONG-TIME SOLUTIONS TO HEAT-CONDUCTION TRANSIENTS WITH TIME-DEPENDENT INPUT FORCING FUNCTIONS. THE METHOD IS ECONOMICAL AND APPLICABLE TO A WIDE VARIETY OF PROBLEMS. APPLICATIONS OF THE METHOD TO ONE-AND TWO-DIMENSIONAL HEAT-CONDUCTION PROBLEMS ARE DISCUSSED. A TWO-DIMENSIONAL ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLE OF AN UNDERGROUND ENERGY-STORAGE TANK IS INCLUDED.
