APPLICATION OF TIME-DOMAIN REFLECTOMETRY TO DETERMINE THE THICKNESS OF THE FROZEN ZONE IN SOILS.
Author(s) : BAKER T. H. W., DAVIS J. L.
Summary
THE DIELECTRIC CONSTANT OF FROZEN SOILS IS SIGNIFICANTLY LOWER THAN THAT OF UNFROZEN SOILS. THE TIME-DOMAIN REFLECTOMETRY METHOD USES THIS FACT TO LOCATE A FREEZING FRONT MOVING ALONG A TRANSMISSION LINE EMBEDDED IN THE SOIL.
