A NUMBER OF APPLIED HEAT PUMP TYPES HAS BEEN INSTALLED TO SOLVE HEATING AND COOLING PROBLEMS IN A VARIETY OF BUILDINGS. WHY AND WHERE THEY ARE INSTALLED IS DISCUSSED, WITH FURTHER DETAILS ON APPLICATION OPPORTUNITIES IN HOSPITALS, HIGH-RISE HOTELS, MOTELS, AND OFFICE BUILDINGS. THE APPLICATION OF APPLIED HEAT PUMPSIS REVIEWED IN CONJUNCTION WITH CLOSED WATER LOOP UNITARY HEAT PUMP SYSTEMS AND WHERE GROUND WATER IS USED. SEVERAL REASONS FOR PROBLEM HEAT PUMP INSTALLATIONS ARE EXPLAINED.
