Assessment of maximum allowable discharge pressure of two-phase ejector.

Summary

Two-phase ejectors may be applied in compressor refrigeration systems both for booster compression or as a second step compression process. Motivation for application of two-phase ejectors for both cases is possibility to improve COP of the system. Possibility of application of two-phase ejectors for various working fluids as well as for various operation conditions requires thermodynamic assessment of availability of the ejector to produce required pressure rise in the system. In this paper the issues of assessment of the applicability of two-phase ejector under high pressure range regime are considered, especially, the assessment of maximum discharge pressure has been presented for the cases of liquid-vapour two-phase ejector. The simplified model of the attainable discharge pressure was formulated. Model was validated with own experimental data obtained for subcritical operation of carbon dioxide compressor system with use of the ejector as a second step compression device.
