Summary
The problems of defining of operational instabilities existing in vapour compression refrigeration systems with particular attention on operation of evaporators and condensers have been discussed in the paper. The simple and lucid interpretation of reasons of these instabilities for boiling and condensation processes has been proposed on the basis of the Van der Waals equation of real gas state. The authors have concluded that in spite of simplicity and imperfection of this equation of state it enables to clearly interpret the effects of phase changes occurring in refrigeration systems.
