AUTOMOTIVE AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSORS.

Author(s) : SIEWERT H. G.

Summary

THE DEVELOPMENT OF AN AUTOMOTIVE COMPRESSOR IS CONSIDERABLY DIFFERENT FROM THE DEVELOPMENT OF A STATIONARY REFRIGERATION COMPRESSOR BECAUSE ADDED CONSTRAINTS OF THE DYNAMIC VEHICULAR APPLICATION MUST BE ACCOUNTED FOR. THESE CONSTRAINTS INCLUDE INFINITE SPEED VARIATIONS, RAPID CYCLING OPERATION, EXTREME VIBRATION LEVELS, EXTREME CONDENSING TEMPERATURE OPERATION, AND FINITE LIFE DETERMINATIONS. THE AUTHOR DISCUSSES THE LABORATORY TESTING REQUIRED TO PROPERLY EVALUATE A DESIGN TO QUALIFY FOR THE RIGOROUS CONSTRAINTS OF AN AUTOMOTIVE APPLICATION.
