A HIGH EFFICIENCY ECOLOGICALLY ACCEPTABLE AIR CONDITIONING AND REFRIGERATION TECHNOLOGY.

Author(s) : EDWARDS T. C., KNOLL R.

Summary

THE AUTHORS REPORT ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF A SMALL-SCALE ENERGY EFFICIENT AIR CONDITIONING TECHNOLOGY THAT OPERATES ON A VARIETY OF LOW PRESSURE REFRIGERANTS. INDEPENDENT TESTS CONDUCTED ON A 490 CM3 COMPRESSOR USING R114 DEMONSTRATED A COP OF 4.67 WHILE DELIVERING ABOUT 11.6 THE USE OF LOW PRESSURE IN OPEN SYSTEMS, SUCH AS AUTO AIR CONDITIONERS, WILL RESULT IN ELIMINATING OVER 95% OF HARMFUL CFC EMISSIONS PRIMARILY BECAUSE THE LEAKAGE IS SO LOW. THE SYSTEM IS BASED UPON A NEW TYPE OF COMPRESSOR KNOWN AS A CONSTRAINED ROTARY VANE (CRV) MACHINE. THIS TECHNOLOGY HAS BEEN AND IS CUR-RENTLY BEING SUCCESSFULLY DEMONSTRATED IN A VARIETY OF APPLICATIONS.
