Summary

The problem of a fast start-up of the heating system of a car was solved by slightly modifying the traditional air conditioning system so that it would provide heat. This was achieved with a refrigerating circuit of the same kind as that used for hot gas defrosting, since the heating effect comes from the whole compression work that is degraded to thermal energy by fluid friction. Experiments were successful, as the thermal output was close to the nominal rate (4 kilowatts) only one minute after starting; of course, this system is required to operate only during the warmup of the traditional heating system.
