Type of article: Periodical article
Summary
Per capita consumption of frozen foods in Belgium has increased by 50% since 1985 reaching 15.8 kg in 1992, still below the European average. The main attractions are convenience, ease of storage, maintenance of quality and a time saving alternative to shopping for fresh produce. The retail grocery sector accounts for 77% of total sales and a significant proportion is processed in Belgium; there is a lot of competition from other European food processors. G.R.S.
