Boiling heat transfer of refrigerant mixtures R404A and R407C in flooded evaporators.

Summary

Nucleate boiling heat transfer of refrigerant mixtures R404A and R407C in free convection on the surface of a horizontal copper tube with a smooth surface is studied experimentally for three boiling pressures (respectively 50, 20 and 10% of the critical pressure). The results for the lowest boiling temperatures of about -6 to -9 deg C are about 10% higher for the R404A than the values reported in the literature in comparison to R502, and about 10% lower for the R407C than the R22. For the analogously calculated values for an evaporation temperature of -40 deg C, the difference between the R404A and the R502 in only slightly lower than at -6 deg C, whether the difference between the R407C and the R22 nearly disappears.
