Pool boiling heat transfer of binary and ternary refrigerant mixtures.

Author(s) : SPINDLER K., VOSS J., HAHNE E.

Summary

Heat transfer measurements are presented for pool boiling of the refrigerant mixtures R410A, R407C, R507 and R404A. The experiments were performed on a horizontal platinum wire (diameter 0.1 millimeter) and on a sandblasted stainless steel tube (diameter 2.0 millimeter). The temperature range was between -50 and +20 deg C, which corresponds to a normalized saturation pressure range between 0.3 and 0.2 depending on the mixture. The heat flux was systematically varied between 3,500 and 160,000 watts/m2 for the wire and between 2,000 and 80,000 watts/m2 for the tube. The highest heat transfer coefficients are measured for the R410A. The experimental results of the four mixtures are compared with the correlation given in the VDI-Wärmeatlas.
