THE ARTICLE DEVELOPS MATHEMATICAL EXPRESSIONS FOR THE RATE OF HEAT TRANSFER ANDFOR THE RATE OF COOLING OF SOLID BODIES BY A FLUID STREAM OF PERFECT FLUIDITY. THE RESULTS ARE PRESENTED IN THE FORM OF A < FICTIVE EXTERNAL THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY > AS A FUNCTION OF THE PROPERTIES OF THE FLUID STREAM AND GEOMETRY OF THE SOLID. VARIOUS ORIENTATIONS OF THE SOLID BODIES RELATIVE TO THE STREAM ARE CONSIDERED, AS WELL AS DIFFERENT BODY SHAPES, INCLUDING A THIN PLATE, CIRCULAR AND ELLIPTICAL CYLINDERS, A SPHERE, ELLIPSOIDS, A DISC, AND A NEEDLE.
