Summary

The Canadian heat sink is a geothermal system that uses the energy present near the ground surface in order to heat or cool the entry ventilation air of buildings. The principle of such a sink is to circulate the incoming ventilation air in a buried duct thanks to a fan before blowing it into the building. This guide is composed of four parts: structure and operation mode of a Canadian heat sink, design, sizing and implementation elements, connection to the building ventilation system. The main offers of products available on the market in 2007 are presented in an annex. The guide can be downloaded at: www.cetiat.fr
