Summary
This paper, based on studies and practical experience, shows and demonstrates (by calculation) under what circumstances CO2 as primary refrigerant in a cascade system with preferably ammonia, and when CO2 as secondary refrigerant can be applied with the lowest operational costs, including costs for defrosting of air coolers, if needed.
