Summary

The importance of products and technologies carbon footprint studies in the agriculture and food industry has been described in this article. The paper presents different approaches to carbon footprint issues and ways of estimating it. The correlations between climate change and the refrigeration - air-conditioning chain associated with the production and food storage has been indicated. Every technological process and its stages requires appropriate temperature, which must be provided by refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment. Therefore, they present also the source of carbon footprint. The CF determination is an impulse to undertake proecological actions and strengthening of sustainable consumption basics. These actions give also economic benefits.
