Summary

To try to improve the carbon balance of the planet, it is suggested that the carbon absorption capacity of marine and terrestrial ecosystems considered as potential carbon "wells" should be taken into account and improved. To save the Kyoto Protocol, the European Union had to accept taking these carbon wells into account. This issue of "Reviews from the Academy of Agriculture of France" contains 7 papers from specialized sessions on this topic held in Paris, France.
