Cavitation characteristics of inlet supercritical hydrogen flow Venturi tube.

Summary

A Venturi tube is used in the liquid propellant rocket engine to control the mass flow rate of the cryogenic propellant. This paper investigates the cavitation characteristics of the inlet supercritical hydrogen flow through a Venturi tube using the method of computational fluid dynamics. The cavitation phenomenon is captured at the neck of the tube with a two-dimensional axial symmetrical model. The pressure and temperature distributions are presented and analysed in detail taking into account the compressibility of hydrogen and the thermal effects of cavitation.
