Summary
The paper reports a device used to break down CFCs, rendering them harmless; it uses the superheated vapour reaction method. Vaporized CFC is sent from a CFC cylinder to the reactor and superheated vapour activated in the evaporator and the superheater is sent to the reactor, where CFC is hydrolyzed and heated to a temperature of 850 °C or more. Hydrofluoric acid and hydrochloric acid generated by decomposition are cooled and neutralized by a calcium hydroxide solution. After neutralization is completed, the fluorite which is produced is coagulated and forms a sediment. The solids are discharged via a solid-liquid separator.
