Chemical and process description for production of high-purity calcium-halides by transformation of halogenated hydrocarbon gases.
Author(s) : JOHANSING P. G.
Summary
The paper describes current patent pending technology for the transformation of CFCs and halons which was developed by Transformation Technologies Ltd; USA, when shortcomings in technology and economics related to disposal of cross-contaminated refrigerant gases became noticeable. The research project that was first undertaken culminated in the development of novel technology and construction of an "alpha" prototype unit in San Marcos, California. A central project objective was the development of a "closed loop" process that was not capable of venting any waste gases or required the disposal of any waste products. The process was intended to be a transformation process, not a destruction process.
