Author(s) : BRIAN C.

Summary

THE CURRENT MASSIVE CONSUMPTION OF CFCS IS EXPLAINED AND THE DEMAND FOR VARIOUS CFCS IS ANALYZED. DUE TO OZONE DEPLETION, IT IS NECESSARY TO SEARCH FOR SUBSTITUTE FLUID OR TECHNOLOGIES FOR EACH REFRIGERATION SECTOR. THE TIMETABLE FOR THE CFC PHASE-OUT SHOULD NOT BE RUSHED. THE BENEFITS OF RECOVERY ARE SHOWN, AND ITS ECONOMIC CONDITIONS ARE PRESENTED. FINALLY, IF IT IS ULTIMATELY IMPOSSIBLE TO REPLACE CFCS THE PROBLEM OF THE USE OF REFRIGERATION WILL ARISE. AN APPENDIX GIVES A LIST OF ALL THE REFRIGERANTS WITH THEIR PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS. J.L.
